Setting your sail

By Princess Mojapelo, 20, Gauteng

Do you ever get that feeling of drowning in your own thoughts? The conversations you keep replaying in your heads about the future you should have but wishing it was today?

This world has become fast-paced and oddly enough we have joined that race. But our race is different, it is one that takes time, effort and a lot of resilience. Is that not what success is? Overcoming the challenges of life without giving up our dreams and visions. It sounds easier written down but look back onto your life. We’ve all suffered many battles and conquered them because we chose not to give up. I applaud you today for facing life and it’s ever-raging trials.

I applaud you for overcoming, even if it was just one small decision – to the pressures of life. It is said that the same wind blows on us all (winds of pain, winds of failure, winds of defeat, even winds of sicknesses etc.). However, what makes the difference is the setting of our sails.

You’ve set it on your goals, you’ve set it on your hopes for the world, you’ve set it on your dreams and helping others achieve theirs.  You’ve set the sail above the storms that come about in our lives.

Remember, life doesn’t really get any better. It is the same as it was before and will be forever (Ecclesiastes 3:15).

Ultimately, we’re the ones that get BETTER. And when we get BETTER, we can and will Do BETTER!

    Life doesn’t get any better.
We get better and eventually do better.

The human species is a lot stronger than it actually thinks and we need to acknowledge that because that strength is something to be very proud of as it determines the hurdles we get through in life (and we all have hurdles)
