Celebrating Heritage Day..

Heritage Day is more than just a public holiday. It’s important to remember that it’s a day for South Africans of various cultures to celebrate and learn more about one another. The diversity that runs through the soil of South Africa is something we should all be proud of and it certainly is the main reason for our uniqueness.

As individuals, we are all aware of how the cost of living has increased tremendously and not many of us may be able to celebrate the country’s ‘braai day’ as we normally would but there are many other ways to celebrate this important day with family and friends.

  1. A ‘bring and braai’

We know that the cost of food is extremely pricey – especially when you’re the one hosting and splurging. Instead of you purchasing all the braai essentials, why not ask friends and family to bring a side dish for the braai. This way, you will be able to save and everyone gets to participate.

  1. Keep an eye out for Heritage Day sales

If you want to stretch your budget even more, keep an eye out for sales. Restaurants and even clothing outlets usually have great Heritage Day promotions.

  1. Have fun outdoors

While acknowledging Covid-19’s presence, you can still have a day out with your loved ones provided you are adhering to social distancing protocols and masking up. There are plenty of parks and gardens that you can visit which is a very inexpensive way to spend the day.

  1. Learn more about another culture

If you’re not about the braai-life, there are other options. Since Heritage Day is all about the different cultures South Africa has to offer, why not immerse yourself into another culture for the day. Learn more about its history, language and cuisine.

We hope you have a wonderful and safe Heritage Day!
