How to make every day feel like Christmas
Christmas is always a fun time in the year. Shopping malls are filled with people doing their last-minute shopping, twinkle lights are everywhere, family and friends are constantly making plans to decide whose house they should host the big Christmas feast. And then there’s Christmas 2020 which includes a global pandemic.
I mean, we have been through a lot this year. Other than our daily struggles and challenges, we got hit by Covid-19 which made life harder for a lot of us. This is why we need to stop living for the future and start living NOW. Since Christmas may feel a lot different this year, we want you to remember that Christmas can be every day without spending an arm and a leg.
Here’s how you can make every day feel like Christmas day…
- Be more generous
People are very generous during Christmas, it’s what maintains the Christmas cheer. People often dig a little deeper to help make sure others have the things they need. However, you don’t need to dig into your pockets every single day to make sure people have what they need. Be more generous with your time, love and kindness.
- See the good in people
The world is horrible, we know. But imagine what the world would be like if we viewed people in the best light for 365 days instead of just one? For most of the year, we’re always judging or assuming the worst about people because we don’t know their story or purpose for their actions. Why not start today and have positive views on people you don’t know? The world may seem a bit better.
- Spread the love
Friends and family are the most important people during the festive season. They are the only people you want to be surrounded by because they make you feel happy and safe. Instead of only using Christmas as the time to see friends and family, why not pick up your smart phone and video call them, y’know, since we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Tell them how much you miss and love them or reminisce over a funny memory. It’s the best way to spread the love, even if you don’t want to tell them how much they mean to you.
- Time off and time out
Christmas break is the time everyone waits for because it allows you to have a rest and switch off from your busy every day life. Christmas really teaches us that taking a break is a well-deserved thing. This should not only happen at the end of the year but when you feel emotionally overwhelmed, it’s good to take a break to mentally and physically refresh. This does not mean you should take a break for 365 days but more for you to realise that a break can be taken at any time and not only during the festive period.
- Celebrate everything
Why shouldn’t you? You don’t need a special holiday to have a celebration. Your small wins? Celebrate! You drank 8 glasses of water? Celebrate! You got out of bed? Celebrate! Celebrate your small wins and victories. You don’t need an audience in front of you to make you feel good about yourself. The only person you need is yourself, so enjoy life and celebrate every day!
Here’s to making every day feel like Christmas!
