Fundamentals of Agribusiness

By AGRICOLLEGES International

The AGRICOLLEGES international Fundamentals of Agribusiness short course is a 12-week programme designed to improve the student’s knowledge of the world of agribusiness. This course is well-suited for emerging farmers, recent school leavers or even established farmers wishing to formalise their farming procedures and expand their current operations. It is recommended that a student wishing to apply for this course, completes the Introduction to Agribusiness course first, but recognition of prior learning or experience will be taken into account.

During the 12-week course, students will receive training to be pro-active participants in the analysis, planning and management of an agri-business. In addition, learners will be well positioned to extend their learning into good farming practices in crop and/or animal production. The most crucial aspect or need that this course covers is the process of moving from a subsistence farming orientation towards an economic orientation where the farm becomes economically viable.

After completing this course, students will be:

  • Able to understand the basic principles that apply to an agribusiness
  • Able to identify concepts relating to business plans, marketing plans, risk management, human resources and financial aspects such as budgeting
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the above mentioned principles
  • Able to articulate the importance of specific practices and apply these in the workplace
