Tomorrow Trust is a non-profit organisation based in South Africa. The organisation supports orphaned and vulnerable children throughout their journey with holistic education-encompassing academics and life skills with self-development, all with the objective of empowering them to reach their full potential as proactive and self-sustaining members of society. Through providing holistic support – academic and psychosocial – students have the opportunity of receiving the education they deserve.
The organisation believes in a HAND UP approach that empowers and emancipates youth in South Africa from poverty, rather than a HAND OUT approach that keeps them entrenched in charity. Providing them with the skills and tools needed to survive in the 21st century, Tomorrow Trust’s graduates are empowered to reach their full potential as proactive and self-sustaining members of society.
With close to nine million of South Africa’s twelve-million school-age population enduring the lockdown with serious constraints on hygiene, learning supplies and basic food, the organisation has launched the #changethestory campaign. Through the campaign, Tomorrow Trust has been able to provide 400 hygiene, food and learning packs to under-resourced households. Included in the pack are one-month WhatsApp data bundles that enable children and caregivers to join WhatsApp groups and receive guidance on how to access free online educational resources.
